The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that Mahavir Jayanti, which will be celebrated on April 10, 2025, will be marked as a bank holiday in Punjab. This special announcement has been made by the RBI and the Punjab government. 

Along with Punjab, the day will mark a holiday in other Indian states too. 

According to the reports, the holiday has been declared under the Negotiable Instruments Act, which states that both private and public banks of the state will remain closed. 

Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir, who was the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism. It is one of the important festivals celebrated by the Jains. On this day, the followers of Lord Mahavir gather to recite prayers and remember his teachings.

The government has advised people to make sure to manage their bank-related work before April 10, as it will be a non-working day for banks in Punjab.
