Malala is a young international symbol for education, she is known for fighting for the education of women at a very young age Pakistan. At the age of 15, Malala was shot by the Taliban for trying to stand against their rules and empowering women’s education. She was 16 when she delivered a speech at the United Nations (UN) headquarters on the importance of gender equality in education. She delivered the speech on 12th of July which also marked her birthday and since is declared as Malala day by the UN.

1. Malala Yousafzai was born to Ziauddin Yousafzai and Toor Pekai Yousafzaion 12 July, 1997.
2. She was only 11 when she started blogging about how life was under the Taliban for the BBC.
3. Her father was a teacher and owned a school of his own.
4. She was designated as the United Nations Messenger of Peace in 2017 by the Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
5. Malala initially planned on becoming a doctor but now has developed an interest in politics.
6. In 2015 an asteroid was named after Malala in her honor.
7. In April 2017 Malala became a UN Messenger of Peace.
8. Due to the assassination attempt on Malala, Pakistan government announced the very first Right to education bill.
9. Malala has received over 40 awards, for her acts of bravery and activism.
10. When Malala had turned 18 years old she opened an all-girls school for Syrian refugees.
