Malayalam Actor and assistant director passed away on Monday at 10:30 pm due to a heart attack at a private hospital in Ernakulam. The 58-year-old is well known for her role in 'Kumbalangi Nights'.
The actor had tested positive for COVID -19 and was undergoing treatment. She suffered a heart attack which claimed her life during her treatment.
She lived at Rameshwara Bhavan near Thiruvambady temple in Thrissur.
About her work
She entered the Malayalam industry as an assistant director with her first debut, ' Krishna Gopalkrishna' in 2002. She has been working in the field for about two decades. She was also an assistant director for several movies like Rajamaniyakam, Thommanum Makkalum, Vellinakshathram, Big B, Romeo, Daddy Cool, Hallo and many more. She has also played roles in movies including Meesha Madhavan, Salt and Pepper, Anuraga Karikkin Vellam, Thamasha, Chronic Bachelor, Ventom, and Vellam.
She got her fame during her appearance in Madhu C Narayanan's ' Kumbalangi Nights' released in 2019. Ambika Rao played the role of the widowed mother of Baby and Simmy alongside Fahadh Faasil, Soubin Shahir, Shane Nigam and others.

Celebrities mourn Ambika's passing
Malayalam movie stars mourned the sudden demise of Ambika Rao. Actors Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kunchako Boban wrote on their Instagram handles, "Rest In peace Ambika Chechi."
The Malayalam industry has lost another talented actor-director.
