With back-to-back T20 World Cups in 2021 and 2022, Sri Lanka will need a seasoned bowler like Malinga to lead the charge.
"Lasith is also on our to-do list. Even in his current form, we must never forget that he is one of our country's best bowlers. His track record bears witness to this. This year and next year, there will be two T20 World Cups held back-to-back. We'll talk about our plans with him when we meet up with him in a few days "Former Sri Lanka pace bowler Wickramasinghe said.

Malinga expressed his willingness to meet the selectors.
"I'm no longer playing Test and ODI cricket, but I'm still playing T20s. I'm still curious as to how the selection committee plans to secure the services of a senior player such as myself for the national team. In my career, I've demonstrated on numerous occasions that I can return after a long absence and perform excellently for my country "he said.
