Kolkata: Like every year, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will attend the flagging off ceremony of the Rath Yatra organized by ISKCON in Kolkata today.
Later she will go to Mahesh in Hooghly district to participate in the Rath Yatra festivities there.
The ISCKON Kolkata Rath Yatra will begin from Hungerford Street, opposite the ISKCON temple, and end at Brigade Parade Ground, where arrangements have been made for daily special darshan of Lord Jagannath.
Special prasad will be distributed at the site till July 12.

The Rath Yatra in Mahesh is reputed to be the second oldest in the world and the oldest one in Bengal.
Actor-turned-politician and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP from Nusrat Jahan will attend the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Kolkata Rathyatra on Thursday. Notably, the event coincides with Jahan wedding reception day.
Accepting the invite on Tuesday, Jahan tweeted, “Thank You @iskconkolkata for the invite. It would be my pleasure to be associated with this inclusive event.” The ISKCON said Jahan was showing the way forward to achieving “social harmony”.
