Man drags traffic police officer on bonnet for 1 km in Ludhiana, FIR registered

A man in Ludhiana dragged a traffic police officer on the bonnet for 1 km after being stopped for using a mobile phone while driving, resulting in injuries to the officer; an FIR has been registered against the accused under multiple IPC sections.

In an incident, a car driver misbehaved with a traffic police personnel in Ludhiana district of Punjab. The incident took place at Mata Rani Chowk when the traffic head constable Hardeep Singh, on duty, signaled a car driver coming from Ghantaghar Chowk side to stop when he saw him using a mobile phone while driving.

Enraged by this, the man suddenly accelerated the car, causing Hardeep to come over the car bonnet. The driver dragged him on the bonnet for about 1 kilometer and took him to Chhawni Mohalla, Manna Singh Nagar areas before hitting a hard cut on the way and dropping him down.

Hardeep suffered some injuries in this incident and his uniform was torn. He was treated at the Civil Hospital. The traffic police and the local police station have started the process of taking legal action against the accused by taking out the CCTV footage of the surrounding. The accused car driver has been identified as Mukal Montu, resident of Mohalla Fatehgarh, and an FIR has been registered against him under sections 279, 332, 186, 353, 307, 427, 34 IPC.
