Thane: The district court on Friday awarded 20-year imprisonment to a 35-year-old man for murdering his neighbor's son over a petty quarrel. The accused Kiran Balaram Tambe from Diwa of the district also fined Rs 55,000.
The APP Vinit Kulkarni told the court that on January 19, 2014, when there was a quarrel between the accused and his wife, the victim, and his brother witnessed the quarrel upon which Tambe got annoyed and chased the brothers who are residing next to his home.
Upon this, the father of the victim went up to enquire with the accused and end up in a quarrel. On this, the victim called the owner of the tenements who came in and warned the accused.

Next night, the accused approached the victim Rahul Chouhan (10) and took him to the terrace of the building and forced to drink wine as he refused, Tambe attacked the boy with a sickle and pushed him off the terrace.
The victim was rushed to the hospital and succumbed to the injuries.
As many as nine prosecution witnesses were examined in the sensational case, in which the testimony of younger brother of the victim turned out to be vital.
