While India & Canada remain at diplomatic loggerheads, the 'Canadian Dream' still prevails in India. People of India go to Canada in large numbers for better education and ease of living. However, sometimes, the Canadian Dream among the people becomes so obsessive that they even opt for illegal means to travel there. Recently, a 24-year-old man was arrested at the Delhi Airport for impersonating a 67-year-old man so that he could fly to Canada.
Yes! you heard it right. As per reports, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport has apprehended a 24-year-old man allegedly faking his look as a 67-year-plus passenger for a flight bound for Canada on Tuesday evening.
The man has been identified as Guru Sewak Singh. Guru Sewak Singh had dyed his hair and beard to fake his look. Guru Sewak Singh was intercepted on Tuesday evening at Terminal 3 of the airport. He has been handed over to the Delhi Police.
As per reports, Guru Sewak Singh is a resident of Lucknow. He was caught with a passport bearing the name of 67-year-old Rashvinder Singh Sahota from Bareilly. As per the Police, Sahota's passport has a valid visa for Canada, but it was not immediately clear whether Sahota is related to Singh or whether it is a fake identity.
Guru Sewak was first checked by CISF personnel as his activities were found to be suspicious. He initially produced his identity in the form of a passport bearing the name 67-year-old Rashvindar Singh Sahota. He was supposed to board an Air Canada plane flying out of Delhi on Tuesday.
A CISF personnel was quoted by a newswire saying, "The man's appearance, voice, and skin texture seemed significantly younger than the details provided in the passport...Closer observation revealed that he had dyed his hair and beard white, and was wearing glasses to appear older."
CISF on its X handle shared Guru Sewak Singh's photo with the caption, "Vigilant CISF personnel intercepted a passenger bound for Canada involved in human trafficking & impersonation. The pax attempted to travel by impersonating an aged person and using false documents. The passenger was handed over to Delhi Police."
