In tragic news today, 5 members of a family were found dead in Village Dhroli Khurd in Jalandhar. The deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Manmohan Singh son of Atma Singh, his wife Sarabjit Kaur, their two daughters Jyoti (32) and Gopi (31), Jyoti's daughter Aman (3). According to reports, a suicide note was found at the scene which revealed that the family was suffering from intense domestic disputes because of an insurmountable amount of debt due to loans. The loan lenders were harassing Manmohan Singh and his family. This compelled Manmohan Singh to kill his family and subsequently end his own life.
Sarabjit Singh, resident of Fuglana, son-in-law of deceased Manmohan Singh, told that he was calling for a long time but no one was picking up the phone. Due to which when he came to village Droli Khurd, he saw that the bodies of Manmohan and Sarabjit Kaur were hanging from the fan and the bodies of others were lying on the bed. He told that Manmohan Singh was in-charge of Adampur post office.
On receiving information about this incident, Police Station Head Manjeet Singh and Adampur DSP Vijay Kunwar Singh reached the spot at 8:20 PM. The police officer said that they are investigating the incident. According to reports, the police found a suicide note from the spot. In the note, Manmohan Singh had written that he had taken a loan due to financial constraints and his address was known to the lenders. Due to this there was a dispute in the house. Fed up with domestic disputes and debts, he took this step.
Police have taken the dead bodies in their custody and sent them to Jalandhar Civil Hospital for post-mortem. Police officials said that all the deceased had rope marks on their necks from which it appears that everyone died by hanging. According to reports 2 people were harassing the family due to unpaid debt who will also be interrogated. When asked about the death of the three-year-old, the police said that there were marks on her neck and that she might have been hanged.
