In a crime against humanity incident, two Manipuri women were paraded without clothes by a mob of men allegedly belonging to the Meitei community in Manipur. As per reports, the Manipur woman parade video was 2 months old i.e. its timeline is May 4, 2023, but it surfaced on social media on Wednesday and ever since then a huge nationwide uproar can be witnessed on social media. While netizens are requesting the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) to take strict and swift action against the culprits who forced Meitei woman to walk in such horrific conditions on the road, the opposition parties are slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his silence over the Manipur issue. Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan said, " Today we are feeling ashamed. Politics should not be done on this (Manipur viral video) but where are PM, Home Minister and what are they doing? I want to ask why the PM is silent. He said that we are preparing a roadmap for Manipur. You are visiting several countries and saying that everything is fine in India. We want to ask whether you will ask your CM to resign or not." Even the DCW Chief Swati Maliwal said that she was not able to sleep after watching the horrific Manipur video. With the Narendra Modi government facing a massive backlash, it has contacted Twitter and directed it to take down the viral Manipur video.
As per reports, a newswire quoted a government official who informed that the Centre has asked Twitter and other social media platforms to pull down the video of the two Manipur women paraded as the matter is under investigation.
