Further intensifying crusade against drug mafias, the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police have demolished illegal properties of two drug peddlers located in Talwandi village and Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar today.
The illegal properties belonging to Sonu of Talwandi village and Rahul Hans from Street No. 6 in Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar, near Dugri, were razed by the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police team. Sonu and his family is involved in six cases of drug trafficking and Rahul was arrested by Dugri police in 2024 after recovery of more than 41000 tablets and Rs 2.15 lakh drug money.
Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal stated that both drug peddlers have previous cases related to drug smuggling, and these properties were constructed using money obtained from drug sales. He mentioned that the police have identified a total of 78 such peddlers residing in areas falling under Police Commissionerate Ludhiana, emphasizing that all their properties which are either illegal or have been built using drug money will be demolished in the coming days. He also added that Ludhiana Commissionerate Police have written to the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation seeking further details. The vehicles purchased using the same money will also be seized by the police.
Chahal reiterated Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab government’s commitment to taking strict action against individuals involved in the drug trade. He assured the public that no one would be spared until the drug menace is completely eradicated, pledging the most severe penalties for peddlers. He added that there will be no leniency for those engaged in drug trafficking.
