The government of Punjab has announced the suspension of 14 Tehsildars following the “mass leave” and not returning even after the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s call. Notably, CM Mann firmly asked the tehsildars (revenue officers) to return to their respective jobs by 5 pm or else they all would have to face suspension.

According to the official details, following the ultimatum offered by the government, several officers returned to their work from districts including Mohali, Sangrur, and Moga, whereas some continued their protest and now have been asked to leave their jobs.

While taking action against these tehsildars, the government released a list with the names of all 14 tehsildars who did not comply with the orders.

Earlier, while addressing the concern, CM Mann outlined that if any officer fails to fulfill their responsibility of registering documents or will not return to their jobs, they will face strict action. Furthermore, the Chief Minister stated that such actions would not be tolerated under his governance and called this an act of coercion and blackmailing.

Amid this political chaos, CM Mann visited various tehsils of Punjab, such as Kharar, Banur, and Zirakpur, where he strictly and firmly announced that no one can blackmail the Punjab government. He further mentioned that the public will be responsible for deciding the job location of the suspended officers.
