The largest automaker in India declared a hike in price for its passenger vehicles (PVs) on April 8, up to Rs 62,000.
The price increase has been attributed by Maruti as a result of rising input costs, operating expenses, features, and regulatory changes. The company is preparing to raise the price of cars effective April 8, 2025; however, while the company is committed to creating efficiency and minimizing the undesirable business impact on its customers, it must pass through some of the increased expenditures to the market.
Indeed, they are working to optimize costs and limit impact on customers, but the company noted that some of the increased expenses shall need to be passed on to the market.
On March 17, the company announced an increase of up to 4% starting in April 2025, which follows another increase of the same percentage that took effect in the first month of 2025, as announced in December of last year by the company. Again in February, the company had to bring in fresh increases, and this time, it ranged from Rs 1,500 to Rs 32,500 on select models.
The reason for increasing prices, according to the company, is rising input costs, operational expenses, regulatory changes, and new features. Next week, select models will be seeing upward revisions.
The Grand Vitara is first, the Creta rival will go up by as much as Rs. 62,000; then comes the Eeco, which will receive a charge of up to Rs. 22,500. Next up is the Wagon R, Ertiga, XL6, and the Fronx, with an increase of as much as Rs 14,000, Rs 12,500, Rs 12,500, and Rs 2,500, respectively. Apart from Maruti, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Kia, Nissan, and Renault will revise their vehicle prices this month.
Accordingly, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will be the most impacted, increased by as much as ₹ 62,000.

During the December 2024 quarter, India's top car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, posted 16% YoY growth in operating revenues to ₹ 38,492 crore and 13% YoY growth in standalone net profit to 3,525 crore. EBITDA has grown by 14% to ₹ 4,470 crore year-on-year, whereas margins have slightly dipped to touch 11.6%.
With effect from 8 April 2025, Maruti Suzuki has declared to hike the prices of all its cars due to a rise in input and operating costs. The model-specific increases, as a guide, are between ₹2,500 for the small SUV Fronx and ₹3,000 for the entry-level sedan DZire Tour S, ₹12,500 for the MPVs Ertiga and XL6, ₹14,000 for the WagonR, ₹22,500 for the Eeco, and ₹62,000 for the Grand Vitara.
