Ludhiana, March 6- The Municipal Corporation Ludhiana (MCL) on Saturday collected Rs one crore property tax from the local bus stand.
The move comes after the MCL issued a notice of Rs nine crore property tax to the bus stand authority a few days back.
Bus Stand General Manager Rachhpal Singh handed over a cheque of Rs one crore to the MCL Joint Commissioner Kulpreet Singh and assured that the remaining pending amount of tax would also be cleared in the coming days.
Superintendent Harwinder Singh Bindra said that a notice of Rs 1.5 crore property tax has also been issued to Zila Parishad and the tax would also be recovered from the office of the Deputy Commissioner and Police Commissioner.

Meanwhile, MCL Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal appealed to all the government departments and other private establishments to pay their property tax before March 31, 2021, to the civic body so that funds can be used to expedite the pace of the development works in the city.
He said that the violators may face penalty and interest.
