The Union Ministry of Home
Affairs (MHA) on Thursday night has issued a fresh advisory for States/ UTS to
strictly adhere to the Covid containment guidelines till May 31. The decision
has come in continuation to the advisory issued on April 25 to curb the spread
of the virus in the nation.
In an official statement the MHA said, “All States and Union Territories (UTs) to consider the containment measures, as had been conveyed in the advisory of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), dated 25.4.2021, for immediate implementation based on the assessment of the situation.”
Moreover, it has also asked the States and UTs to implement necessary containment measures, under the relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
It may be noted here that issuance of these guidelines has ruled out the possibility of nationwide lockdown.

The April 25th advisory had directed the States/UTs to identify districts where either positivity rate had been more than 10 percent or more in the last one week. It further added to analyze bed occupancy, if it had been more than 60 percent then the districts can take up stern local containment measures.
However, till May 31, the previous or already in place National Directives for Covid-19 Management will have to be followed by the States/UTs.
