The review embargo for the much-anticipated spy action thriller film Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning was lifted last night to extraordinarily positive reviews. The franchise is considered one of the best action thriller film series in Hollywood and with the series just coming fresh off from its three best films- Ghost Protocol in 2011, Rogue Nation in 2015, and Fallout in 2018, all of them surpassing the preceding films both critically and commercially, the upcoming installment of the franchise looks at achieving a similar fate. The lead actor and producer of the film Tom Cruise is basically responsible for reviving cinemas last year with the smash hit Top Gun: Maverick hence expectations from Cruise to deliver another memorable cinematic experience were sky-high and according to all the early reviews, the film seems to completely live up to them and for some reviewers, even exceed them.
At the time of writing, the film is sitting at a fantastic score of 98% from 111 reviews, surpassing the previous franchise record of Mission Impossible: Fallout which is sitting at 97%. The score is bound to fluctuate but we still expect a score in the vicinity of 90-95% as the final tally, which is still incredible considering the franchise is still running strong for 27 long years. It will be the fourth time in a row that a Mission Impossible film will be getting a 90% score or above on Rotten Tomatoes, ensuring that the films are critic favorites. The first film of the series got a 67% rating on the website which saw a consistent improvement with each installment, barring Mission Impossible 2 which sits at 56% with the succeeding films only getting better in terms of critical acclaim.

According to many critics, the film isn't the absolute best in the franchise but still delivers the much-needed thrills and ups the ante for the franchise's penultimate finale which is the eighth and presumably final installment of the series. Just like every Tom Cruise film is unanimously praised for the practical stunts the 61-year-old actor performs himself, history repeats itself with this film with critics going gaga over the action sequences which will be immense in number given the franchise's reputation. Besides the action being praised, the film was also raved about for its representation of women characters, emotional depth, and performances of the star cast among other aspects proving that the film is more than just mere set pieces.

After these glowing reviews, we certainly can't wait any longer for 12 July 2023 as the biggest action star of our generation comes back to revive the real big-screen experience in a summer full of critical and commercial disappointments in terms of big-budget blockbusters barring a film or two. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning- Part One is all set to be another worldwide hit for Cruise and the film also has big potential to cross the coveted 100 crore mark in India as well. The film is directed by Christopher McQuarrie which will be the third movie in a row in the series for the filmmaker who is also a long-time collaborator with Cruise in terms of screenwriting, thus showing the superstar's trust in him. The film stars returning faces such as Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, and Ving Rhames along with Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Esai Morales who is playing the primary antagonist as new characters for the series. The film clocks at a runtime of 2 hrs 45 minutes, which is the longest ever for the series.
