Siddharth Malhotra after a grand hit outing in 2022 is all set to return with yet another banger in the month of January next year. Scaling up the challenges for his versatility Siddharth Malhotra this time will be seen playing the role of a spy in a “thrilling covert mission.”
Rashmika Mandanna will be seen playing the lead role alongside, Siddharth in the film explores the events, that transformed the politics between India and its neighboring nation in the 1970s.
The film will be marked as Shantanu Bagchi’s directorial debut, conceiving Mission Majnu from a script co-written by a team of three — Parveez Shaikh (Freddy), Sumit Batheja (Bhoot Police), and Aseem Arora (Malang).
The poster associated with the film ‘Mission Majnu’ which was released way back presents Siddharth Malhotra from the mission which possibly is from the mission around which the film is based. For Mandanna, this would be her first Bollywood project, which packs in “grit, heart, drama, and mesmerizing music.”
Inspired by the incidents that are set in 20th century India when India was shaping up in a different space around the enemies this movie will also see Kumud Mishra (Jogi), Parmeet Sethi (Rustom), Sharib Hashmi (Dhaakad), Mir Sarwar (Bajrangi Bhaijaan), and Zakir Hussain in the lead.
While the movie is produced by Ronnie Screwvala (Swades), under his RSVP Movies banner which is made in the collaboration with Netflix.
“Mission Majnu is the story of India's growing prowess and places in the global standing of nations as a superpower, both as the fastest growing nation in the world and the biggest democracy — and stories like these show how we laid the cornerstone for our standing. It's a story best suited for the audiences on Netflix with its global reach,” Screwvala said in a prepared statement.
“Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandana make this story come to life and RSVP are really proud to present this.” Filming on Mission Majnu began in February last year, with plans for a theatrical release on June 10, although that got canceled and will straightaway hit the OTT giant platform Netflix on January 20th.
