During a rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about the resumption of Flights from Amritsar in Punjab to Nanded in Maharashtra. On 9th November, during his Okla rally, he hinted that the Amritsar-Nanded flight can restart, and connect Amritsar and Nanded again.
Yesterday, PM Modi said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing an election rally in Okla said that air services have started from Nanded to Delhi and Adampur.
Now, the public of Punjab will be able to travel directly to Maharashtra. This route is very important as it connects two Takhats of Sikhism. Previously, 2.5 years ago, Amritsar-Nanded flight service was closed, people had protested against it. It was discontinued at the beginning of the 2022 assembly.
Before this, the flight was discontinued on 30th September 2021 as well. Following this, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the then Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi had opposed this decision. Then the then SGPC chief Bibi Jagir Kaur and former Chief Minister Channi had also wrote a letter to Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. After the protest, this flight was restarted on 24th November 2021 but only for three months.
Before being discontinued in September 2021, this flight used to fly for three days a week. But when it was restarted in November 2021, the flight from Amritsar to Nanded Sahib was then scheduled every Wednesday and from Nanded Sahib to Amritsar every Saturday. Following which, it again discontinued. Now, after 2.5 years, PM Modi has hinted about the flight’s resumption. However, he has not revealed when exact start date of the flight services.
