New Delhi: On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Congress-led UPA had wasted 10 years between 2004 and 2014 and asserted that the NDA regime has proved that a government can be run which will not be afflicted with the charge of corruption.
"Congress-led regime had wasted 10 years between 2004 and 2014. I have said the country's history would have been different if Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had become Prime Minister. Similarly, India would have achieved many milestones had Atal Bihari Vajpayee returned to power in 2004", Prime Minister said addressing the concluding session of BJP's two-day National Convention here.
He said the NDA regime in last four and half years has proved that the country's 'self confidence' lost during Congress regime has been regained.
"There is a neo confidence. Every man and woman now wants to contribute in nation building. They have faith that tax they are paying are now being used effectively and sincerely", Mr Modi said.
"No corruption charge has stuck on us," he said making an obvious reference to Congress party's attempts to bring in corruption charge against the Prime Minister on Rafale aircraft deal row.
In his first public speech after the Parliament nod to 10 per cent reservation for economically weaker sections, Prime Minister said this latest initiative is a gift to youth of India and also ensures justice to everyone.
"This new affirmative action will not deprive any community of their existing privileges. I know there will be attempts in certain quarters to mislead people on this," he said adding the party workers should be also alert about such machinations.
