Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday will host Team India at his residence in New Delhi. Rohit Sharma & Co. are currently en route to New Delhi in a charter plane organised by BCCI and they will land at IGI Airport on July 4 early morning. After this, the Men In Blue head straight to PM Modi's house where he has organised a reception party for Rohit Sharma & team. BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla confirmed the development while talking to a newswire but outlined that the much-awaited victory road show will not place in the national capital. Below is what BCCI VP Rajeev Shukla said-
"A special Air India flight was sent by the BCCI to bring the Indian Team back. In addition, stranded media persons are also being brought back on the same flight. They will reach Delhi tomorrow at 6 am. The Prime Minister has organised a reception for the team at his residence at 11 am. After this, they will leave for Mumbai on a special flight, where a roadshow has been organised in their honour from Nariman Point to Wankhede Stadium. A welcome event has been organised for them at Wankhede Stadium where the Indian Cricket Team, coaches, and support staff will be felicitated and awarded the Rs 125 crore cash prize announced by the BCCI," said Rajeev Shukla as quoted by a newswire.
Notably, journalist Vimal Kumar who was also in Barbados to report India's T20 World Cup campaign on his YouTube channel said that BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has also decided to take Indian journalists who are stranded in the West Indies on the same flight which has been arranged for Team India. Not only this, Vimal also introduced Sri Lankan journalists who will be traveling with the Men in Blue to New Delhi. He further informed that since Team India will land in New Delhi early Thursday morning, then the Men In Blue may meet PM Modi on Friday. Because the players may get tired due to continuous travel they take a day off before meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
However, Rajeev Shukla has confirmed that PM Modi will meet Team India on Thursday at 11 am. It will be interesting to see whether Team India will be allowed to bring their family to PM's house or not.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah took to his X handle and wrote, "Join us for the Victory Parade honouring Team India's World Cup win! Head to Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium on July 4th from 5:00 pm onwards to celebrate with us! Save the date! #TeamIndia."
