Enforcement Directorate is interrogating Aam Aadmi Party Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh in connection with money laundering. According to the information received, ED took the AAP MLA to Jalandhar office where the he is being interrogated. The ED team had sent summons to Kulwant Singh a day earlier and called him in for questioning. ED raided the house of Kulwant Singh nearly 3 months ago.
The ED conducted searches at multiple locations, including on Kulwant Singh’s premises, in Mohali, Amritsar and Ludhiana in the case in October 2023. ED had said that the raid at his house was related to the scam related to Delhi's liquor policy. Along with the raid at Kulwant Singh's house, a search was conducted for about 13 hours in Amritsar, Ludhiana and Ganganagar of Rajasthan. Kulwant Singh is accused of helping liquor businessman Deep Malhotra in making liquor deals in Delhi. Kulwant Singh is AAP MLA from Mohali.
He is a businessman by profession. He was born in a Ramdasia Sikh family in Samana Kalan, Rupnagar, Punjab. He left his village and went to Zirakpur and used to weigh trucks and heavy vehicles there for three years. Kulwant Singh is currently the Managing Director of Janata Land Promoters Limited and his turnover is Rs 1500 crore, making him one of the richest MLAs from Punjab. Apart from this, he has many properties in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
