A heart-wrenching incident has come to light on Tuesday in Mohali, Punjab, where retired SI from Chandigarh Police murdered his wife by smashing her head on the floor. However, the reason for the murder has not been revealed yet. After hitting her head on the floor, he sat near the dead body for two hours.
It is learned that earlier in 2017 the accused had shot down his brother-in-law.
The accused has been identified as 65-year-old Kartar Singh, a resident of Phase-11, Mohali. His elder son lives in Australia and the younger one works at the SSP office of Mohali.
The younger son informed that when he went to the office on Tuesday morning, there was a fight between Kartar Singh and his wife Kuldeep Kaur over some issue. Meanwhile, Kartar Singh killed his wife by banging her head on the floor.
Neighbors informed their son about the incident after hearing Kuldeep’s screams. Then he asked one of his friends to reach home and inquire about the matter. When his friend reached there, the door was locked from inside. Even after knocking on the door, again and again, no one came. Then, other police officials were informed, the police came and broke the door.
The police have arrested the accused and have registered a case of murder against him. A police investigation is going into the matter.

Kartar Singh retired as SI from Chandigarh Police 7 years ago. In 2017, Kartar Singh opened fire on his brother-in-law, who ran a Punjabi Dhaba. In this attack, Kartar shot his brother-in-law in the chest and thigh. He was in jail for 4 years and came out on bail only 8 months back.
According to the family members, Kartar had several times told his brother-in-law to kill his wife.
