Punjab Horticulture, Defence Serive Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat today urged the banking institutions to provide maximum financial assistance to the weaker sections under various welfare schemes so that the mission of socio-economic growth can be achieved in the right earnest.

Addressing the 3rd National Convention of Young and Women Employees of UCO Bank, the Minister invited them to become frontrunner of socio-economic growth in the country by providing maximum financial assistance to poor people. He highlighted the role of financial institutions in aliviating property as they can strengthen the weaker sections through plenty of financial schemes. The Minister said that it was need of the hour to offer maximum loans to start new businesses so that culture of entrepreneurship can be cultivated in the country. He mentioned that the responsibility lies on the shoulders of banking employees to realise the goals of financial inclusion by assisting maximum people. 

The Minister asked the banking institutions to lay special thrust on the wellbeing of the poor and needy strata of society as a part of their social responsibility as they could extend a helping hand to the needy people through such schemes and loans. He added that the basic aim of these government-sponsored schemes/ loans was to give a chance to the needy strata of the society to live a life of dignity and pride.

Earlier, Chairman of the organization K. Vijhayan, President Ram Avatar Sharma, General Secretary Partha Chand welcomed the Cabinet Minister upon his arrival in the event. They also honoured the Minister by presenting him a momento.
