Lok Sabha member from Jalandhar Parliamenty Constituency Sushil Kumar Rinku on Friday called on Speaker Lok Sabha Om Birla and impressed upon him to allot time to him so that he can issue raise the issues pertaining to his constituency and weaker sections of society.
The Speaker welcomed Mr. Rinku on his induction to the house.
During his interaction with the Speaker, the MP sought time to address the house so he can take up crucial issues pertaining to his constituency and the state. He further stated that adequate representation should be given to Jalandhar Parliamentary Constituency in the standing committees of the parliament. The MP said that various issues related to his Parliamentary constituency have been pending due to which he must be allotted time in august house. He said that though Jalandhar is a major city of Punjab but it has lagged behind in progress due to lacklustre performance of previous MPs and step motherly treatment of Union government.
He said that this need to be rectified for which he must be allotted time in the Parliament. He also said that it is consonance with the ethos of Indian democratic system to assure that every elected representative of people gets a chance to flag the issues concerning his constituency. Mr Rinku said that he is duty bound to raise the matters related to Jalandhar and no stone will be left unturned for this noble cause.
Likewise, the Lok Sabha member said that the interests of weaker and underprivileged sections also needs to be protected. He said that he also wants to flag the issues pertaining to these strata of society on this highest platform of the country. He said that he has the privilege of representing people in Municipal Corporation, then in Punjab assembly and now in supreme body of people- the Lok Sabha, so he knows well how to get the issues of people resolved for which he must be allotted time.
Impressed by this, the Lok Sabha Speaker assured him that he would get sufficient time to address the house soon. Notably, MP Sushil Kumar Rinku has recently became member of Lok Sabha after winning by-polls in Jalandhar.
