Mufasa: The Lion King is an American musical drama film. It is directed by Barry Jenkins and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. This animated film is a sequel to The Lion King released in 2019. In this sequel movie, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and John Kani have reprised their roles from the remake. Additionally, the new cast members include Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Anika Noni Rose, and Blue Ivy Carter.
Mufasa: The Lion King was released on Friday, 20th December 2024. Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan as Mufasa with his sons Aryan as Simba and AbRam as baby Mufasa have lent their voices for the Hindi dubbing of the movie. Sanjay Mishra as Pumbaa, Shreyas Talpade as Timon, Meiyang Chang as Taka and Makarand Deshpande as Rafiki have also lent their voices in the movie.
The storyline of the movie revolves around lost and alone, orphaned cub Mufasa who meets a sympathetic cub named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline.
When and where to watch Mufasa: The Lion King?
Mufasa: The Lion King is produced by Disney Studios and it will stream on the Disney Plus Hotstar OTT platform. This animated Disney movie is expected to start streaming around late March 2025 on Disney Plus Hotstar. In February 2025, it might be available for digital purchase or rent as well.
Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade who has voiced Timon in the Hindi version, said, “The last time, the Hindi version performed incredibly well. This time, it’s a prequel, not a remake of the animated classic, so it’s something fresh. We want people to watch the Hindi version and connect with it the way they did before.”
As of December 29, 2024 the movie has grossed 113.5 million dollars in the United States and Canada, and 214.5 million dollars in other territories, for a worldwide gross of 328 million dollars against a budget of 200 million dollars.
