Trouble seems to be not getting less for Republic TV Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami as another case has been filed against him and his wife and channel Republic TV. Going by the reports of Live Law, Deputy Commissioner of Mumbai Police, Abhishek Trimukhe has filed a criminal defamation complaint against Republic TV's editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, director Samyabrata Goswami and ARG Outlier Media that runs the channel.
The petition seeks permission from the court to issue a warrant against the named accused and compensation for DCP Trimukhe. The complaint by Trimukhe states, "The defamatory remarks have been made by a singular view of assassinating his(Trimukhe's) official character and thereby maliciously and deliberately causing undue humiliation of the Mumbai Police department and those who serve the public thereunder."
Reports state that Trimukhe has accused Goswami of defaming his name during a panel discussion in Sushant Singh Rajput's case when the call record of Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty was accessed and it showcased call between DCP Trimukhe and Chakraborty. The complaint cited the date of August 7, 2020, when the discussion took place and it was also shared on its YouTube channel.
Arnab and Republic TV has already been facing many legal cases and the most prominent among them is the TRP Scam case. Now, DCP Trimukhe filing defamation case might increase the trouble of the journalist more.
