Dayavittu Gamanisi filmmaker Rohit Padaki is looking forward to the release of his second film, Rathnan Prapancha, on Amazon Prime Video on October 22.
The filmmaker adds in an interview with a leading daily that he wants to present stories that are near to people's emotions. "I end up coming up with similar topics instinctively since I grew up watching family-oriented stories," Rohit adds.
Rathnan Prapancha, Rohit acknowledges, would be a deciding element in his career. "The film has a special place in my heart since it is so deeply steeped in Kannada culture. Second, the narrative is based on real-life events that occurred in my area. Through topics like Rathnan Prapancha, I share whatever I have for the society "Rohit explains.
The filmmaker also claims that he has yet to be able to tell the difference between commercial and noncommercial films, and that films like these can bridge the gap between the two. "However, I refer to Rathnan Prapancha as a commercial entertainment since it reflects the lives of middle-class people, who make up the majority of our community," he explains.
Rathnan Prapancha, according to Rohit, is the narrative of ordinary people under exceptional circumstances. "With the character Ratnakara, played by Dhananjay, I explored this notion," Rohit adds.
"When I met Dhananjay, he came across as a really modest guy," Rohit says of his choice of actor for the film. His real-life characteristics gave me confidence that he would be a good fit for the part. The same could be said about the rest of the cast."
KRG Studios' debut production attempt is Rathnan Prapancha, and Rohit has nothing but respect for producers Karthik Gowda and Yogi G Raj. "KRG Studios, Hombale Films has a vision and a taste for great material. As a result, everything fell into place.
Finally, when questioned why he is opting for an OTT release while theatres are at capacity, he responds, "Some people are still afraid to go to the movies and instead choose to watch movies on streaming channels or on television. They will be entertained by this film."
"My parents have also stopped coming to the movies because they believe they are not receiving enough amusement. I've heard folks claim that the last excellent theatre experience they had was with Dr Rajkumar and Dr Vishnuvardhan's movies. Rathnan Prapancha, I am confident, would restore their faith in family shows "He concludes by adding his name.
