National Parents Day: 3.1% of women don't even want one-Kid, 92.4% don't need second-child; Know reasons

The desire for child happiness in Chandigarh is falling. As per the latest released National Family Health Survey, in the UT of Chandigarh, around 3.1% of the women don’t need even 1 child. Moreover, around 36.8% have responded that they don’t need 2nd child and 92.4% of women have set aside the idea of 3rd child.

Owing to the fewer number of participants in the survey from men in the UT, their response hasn’t been included in the survey. Whereas, in the neighboring state of Punjab there are around 43.8% of married men who don’t need even a single child. Whereas their desire for 2nd and 3rd child saw a huge fall, with 41.5% giving up the desire for 2nd and 91.1% for 3rd. 

95% of Punjabi Women desire at least one child:
As per the NFHS survey, the desire for child happiness persists among women against men in Punjab, 95.6% of women in Punjab desire at least a child. Whereas the trend remains the same in the falling desire for successive children. The story is more or less the same in Himachal Pradesh, 45% of men don’t need any child here. In the region, the status is best in Haryana where only 14.1% of men don’t desire a child.

The main cause behind the depleting trend in the desire of children:
Many experts believe the prominent reason behind the fall in the desire of having babies are, late marriages, and concern about their careers. Many working couples in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities are approaching doctors for family planning only after they turn 35. Other reasons behind this are financial stability and job insecurity.

History of Parents Day:
In the year 1994 America formulated the law on Parents Day. In the year 1994 former US President Bill Clinton passed a law to propose his countrymen to observe every fourth Sunday of July as Parents Day. This day from then on is celebrated to pay tribute to the Parents for their selfless devotion in the upbringing of their child.
