Reacting to the claims of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Badal, who challenged congress leaders to bring concrete proof against the akalis, ex-minister and Congress MLA Navjot Sidhu today shared CCTV footage of police firing from 2015 firing incidents and said “Enough cognizable evidence available against Badals but they are being protected”.
In a series of tweets, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Sidhu, while sharing the CCTV Footage said that this clipping was hidden from Justice (Retd.) Zora Singh Inquiry Commission during Badal Regime and was later dug up by Justice Ranjit Singh.
He said, “I brought this footage to Public Domain, which shows the role of police, acting on behest of the Badals. You are guilty but being protected”, he said.
He also said that as per Justice (Retd.) Ranjit Singh Inquiry Commission Report, there is enough cognizable evidence available against Badals, but no action taken. “In Sept 2018, I shared in Public Domain, statements by Doctors, Ex-DGP & Civil Administration that prove actions at Kotkapura Chowk were consensual with then CM Praskash Singh Badal”, he wrote.
Sidhu also said that the CCTV footage obtained from four cameras at the Kotkapura crossing clearly showed that those protesting against the sacrilege cases were peacefully sitting on a dharna in the town and it was the Punjab Police that started a cane charge, used water cannons and later fired at them.
"There is prima facie evidence in Justice Ranjit Singh (retd) Commission report (which probed the firing and sacrilege incidents) to proceed against Badals”, Sidhu said.
Not just this, Navjot Sidhu in the recent past, has also slammed Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh for failing to conduct a fair probe into the matter and alleged that Congress government is being ruled by Badals.

There has been a war of words between Captain Amarinder and Navjot Sidhu, wherein both raised questions over each other’s intentions and political agendas. Punjab CM even challenged Sidhu to contest against him from Patiala and later demanded justice for people of Punjab by repeatedly tweeting and seeking action in the Sacrilege case.
Meanwhile, the latest development in the Captain Vs Sidhu row is that the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has fast-tracked its investigation into some unscrupulous deals involving Navjot Sidhu, his wife and their close associates.
Sources informed that VB officials have found that Sidhu has taken some controversial decisions during his tenure as local body minister to favour certain firms. However, there has been no official statement in this regard from the office of the Punjab CM or Punjab Vigilance Bureau, while Sidhu has welcomed the inquiries by tweeting, “Please do your Best !! @capt_amarinder.
