NCB captured 3 with over 6kgs of cannabis worth Rs 2 crores

Last night NCB raided multiple locations in Mumbai, aid officials.

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officers on late Sunday night broke into an inter-state drug smuggling racket and grabbed three people including one woman from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in the case. 

The three have been identified as - Aftab Ali Hishamoddin Shaikh, Sabir Ali Azhar Sayyed and Shamim Bano Quereshi. They were allegedly carrying 6.6kg of Kashmiri hashish (charas) worth more than ₹2 crores.

Sameer Wankhede, NCB zonal director said that hashish was of high quality and was smuggled to Mumbai from Kashmir. The NCB added that the accused are from Kurla (East) residents and have been arranging rugs from Kashmir to the city to sell it to other peddlers in Mumbai.

An officer said, “They gang travels with children and inducts women to avoid raising any suspicion.”

Officers said that the agency was given specific inputs about the involved people and their activities were under surveillance for a long time.

The arrest of the trio has been made under the relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

NCB claims that it has carried out two major operations in a week to hit the supply chain.
