Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case: NCB on Wednesday filed a charge sheet in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. His girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty have been made accused. In the charge sheet, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) said that Rhea had given drugs to Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The matter will be heard by the Special Court on July 27. If the charges against Rhea and Showik are proven, they could face up to 10 years in prison. In the case, 35 people including Rhea, and her brother Showik have been accused by the NCB in their charge sheet.
The dead body of Sushant Singh Rajput was found in the house: The dead body of Bollywood's talented actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found on 14 June 2020 at his Mumbai home. After this Sushant's family made serious allegations against actress Rhea and her family. It was only after his allegations that many people, including Rhea Chakraborty and brother Showik Chakraborty, came under the scrutiny of the Mumbai Police. In this case, the investigation was handed over to the NCB after the drug angle came to the fore.
Financing of drugs for high profile people and Bollywood: In the Sushant Singh Rajput case, the NCB said that all the accused hatched a conspiracy between March 2020 and December 2020 to use and sell drugs in high society and Bollywood. The accused financed drug smuggling in the Mumbai region and consumed ganja, charas, cocaine and other narcotics. He neither had any valid permit nor any license of any kind.
All the accused have been booked by NCB under sections 27, 27A (illegal trafficking and harbouring criminals), 28 (attempt to commit offence) and 29 (abetment of criminal conspiracy) of the NDPS Act.
Rhea's brother Showik was in contact with peddlers: NCB said – Rhea Chakraborty had taken ganja from accused Samuel Miranda, Bhai Showik, Dipesh Sawant and other accused. Rhea had conveyed it to the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The actress paid it between March and September 2020. Along with this, it has also been said that Rhea's brother Showik was in contact with drug peddlers and had taken ganja and charas from them several times.
CBI is investigating on the orders of the Supreme Court: Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead on 14 June 2020 at his flat in Mumbai. Since then, the investigation was started from the NCB drugs angle in the case and Rhea Chakraborty was arrested in September 2020. After nearly a month in jail, Rhea got bail from the Bombay High Court.
On the orders of the Supreme Court, the CBI is investigating this matter. However, till now the agency has not reached any kind of result. Now the matter will be heard by the Special Court on July 27, for which the charge sheet has been filed by the NCB.
