Republic TV Managing director and Editor in Chief Arnab Goswami was released from the Taloja Central Jail in Raigad late on Wednesday night.
The development came hours after the Supreme Court granted him bail following his arrest on November 4 in a case of abetment to suicide of Mumbai architect Anvay M. Naik and his mother Kumud Naik on May 5, 2018, in Alibaug.
Granting bail to Arnab Goswami and others, the Supreme Court said, "Keep aside everything. If this is what our state governments are going to do to people who are to be nailed, then the Supreme Court has to intervene. There has to be a message to HCs- Please exercise your jurisdiction to uphold personal liberty. We are seeing case after case. HCs are failing to exercise jurisdiction. People are in jail for tweets!"
Now, the NCP and the Congress has responded to the Supreme Court of India remark. NCP cabinet Minister Nawab Malik addressed to the Supreme Court that personal liberty is equally important as justice for the victim. The NCP leader too to Twitter and wrote, "It is the responsibility of all to respect the country''s judiciary. There should be a line between liberty of an individual and justice to victim. Nobody can be special among equals before the law."
On the other hand, Maharashtra Congress leader hailed the High Court after the apex body of India slammed the Bombay High Court for not giving interim bail. Sachin wrote, "Hearty congratulations to hon'ble Mumbai High court for showing that everyone is equal before law."
Sachin also raised suspicion on the crowd gathered to see Arnab get out of jail. Sachin alleged that the crowd was gathered just for the monetary benefits. He wrote, "It was alleged that Arnab's channel was mobilising crowd before @KanganaTeam 's house when it was being demolished. Today in this video people are clearly claiming that ₹1000 for big person and ₹500 for child each were given to show support for him."
