At least 30 out of 72 people on board a flight died that crashed barely 20 minutes after taking off from Kathmandu earlier this morning. Ever since the news surfaced clips from the site of the crash is taking rounds on social media where rescue operations are underway.

Among several clips, one that is catching huge attention is the flight moments before the crash taken from a resident’s terrace near the site where the flight crashed.

The video widely being shared shows how the flight loses control and goes downward until goes out of the frame, later accompanied by a massive collision sound.

Images and videos posted on social media platforms showed plumes of smoke billowing from the crash site. Another clip shows a huge fire with smoke coming out of the crashed flight, whereas locals and relief teams are trying to rescue the passengers.

30 dead in Nepal plane crash

A total of 68 passengers and four crew members were on board the aircraft that crashed between the old airport and the Pokhara International Airport, Sudarshan Bartaula, spokesperson of Yeti Airlines, said.

The ill-fated aircraft was proceeding toward Pokhara from Kathmandu. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has called an emergency meeting after the crash.

The wreckage was on fire and rescue workers were joined to take control of the fire, local official Gurudutta Dhakal told a press agency. Reportedly, 15 foreign nationals were onboard including 5 Indians among 72.
