A view on Netflix is defined as watching two minutes of a TV programme or movie. But who among us hasn't given up after the first few minutes on something? Have you truly "viewed" an eight-episode hourlong series if you leave halfway through? Netflix appears to agree. It's always made Netflix statistics less useful, which is perhaps why the company has now revealed total viewership hours for its top 10 original films and shows, including Extraction, Money Heist, The Witcher, Stranger Things, Army of the Dead, and more. To demonstrate that the majority of Netflix subscribers are are watching till the end.

Bridgerton, the Regency-era London romance drama series created by Shondaland, topped the way with 625 million hours of viewing in the first four weeks after debut, according to Netflix co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos, who spoke at Vox Media's Code Conference in Los Angeles on Monday. When you multiply it by the 82 million homes that watched Bridgerton in its first 28 days, you get 7 hours and 37 minutes. Bridgerton season 1 lasted a total of 8 hours and 10 minutes.

Bird Box, starring Sandra Bullock, won the box office with 282 million hours watched in the first 28 days. Within the first four weeks, 89 million Netflix users saw Bird Box, with an average viewing time of 3 hours and 10 minutes. That's a lot longer than the movie's 2 hours and 4 minutes, implying that people will see it again. With 231 million hours, Extraction, Chris Hemsworth's most-watched film, finished in second with 99 million homes. That's 2 hours and 20 minutes on average, somewhat longer than the 1 hour and 57 minute duration.
This was likewise the case with Season 4 of Money Heist (619 million hours) and Season 3 of Stranger Things (582 million hours). In the first 28 days, 65 million Netflix subscribers watched the blockbuster Spanish series, which lasts an average of 9 hours and 31 minutes. Money Heist season 4 was, on the other hand, only 6 hours and 38 minutes long. Stranger Things 3 lasted 8 hours and 41 minutes on average, whereas the third season lasted 7 hours and 29 minutes. The Witcher's average viewership was somewhat lower than it had been during its first season.
