Jalandhar, April 2: District administration is all set to start construction of the new cattle shed at village Kanian Kalan Gaushala in Shahkot as funds of Rs. 38.55 lakh have already been approved by the district mineral foundation, announced Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori.
While visiting the Gaushala, the deputy commissioner accompanied by SDM Shahkot Dr. Sanjiv Sharma said that the funds of district minerals would be transferred to concerned authority for the construction of cattle shed here. He also assured the management of Gaushala for early releasing of requisite funds for fodder lying with Municipal Corporation in lieu of the stray cattle being sent to this Gaushala.
The deputy commissioner stated that the district administration is going to launch a special drive to tie reflective tapes on the necks of stray cattle to prevent road accidents besides other measures to save many precious lives.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner visited the old age home located at village Bili Wadaich, which is being run by Gill Welfare Society. He lauded the efforts of local youths for running this home for old age persons and providing them best of the facilities here. He called upon youngsters to follow the footsteps of youths working in this village to serve the senior citizens besides offering fulsome support from the administration.
