The much-awaited cricketing extravaganza- TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will kickstart from March 22, 2025. After the completion of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Team India players as well as top cricketers around the world barring Pakistan will participate in the cash-rich tournament. Preity Zinta Co-owned Punjab Kings (PBKS) which has players like Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Glenn Maxwell, etc is looking strong this time. The BCCI in their TATA IPL 2025 schedule has announced that PBKS will play at 2 venues as their home ground.
The newly renovated cricket stadium in New Chandigarh will host 4 matches of PBKS in IPL 2025. The first match at New Chandigarh Stadium will be played between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals on April 5, 2025. The second match will be between Punjab and Chennai, the third match will be between Punjab and defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders, and finally, PBKS will lock horns with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 20, 2025.
For those who are unaware, MS Dhoni plays for Chennai Super Kings while Virat Kohli plays for RCB. It means New Chandigarh Stadium will host both MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.
Talking about New Chandigarh Stadium, its name is Maharaja Yadavindra International Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium, Mullanpur. This year Maharaja Yadavindra International Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) stadium, Mullanpur has been renovated. Last year, it hosted IPL matches but there were complaints regarding the infrastructure of the stadium. As per reports, the cricket administration has improved parking facilities, canopies to shield spectators from the scorching sun have been installed and practice pitches for players have also been made.
PCA secretary Dilsher Khanna was quoted by Tribune who said, "The work to install canopies (at 15 ft from the stands) has already been approved and will start next week. We have also come up with practice grounds and pitches for the teams. Solutions for other problems are in the pipeline and by next week, we will complete everything and be ready to host matches."
Apart from New Chandigarh, Dharamshala Cricket Stadium will host Punjab Kings' matches.
