On Friday, multiple fatalities were inflicted at two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch. The shooting occurred at the time when Friday prayers were going on, forcing the city of Christchurch into lockdown as police launched a massive manhunt.

According to a news agency, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that over 40 people have been killed in the attack. Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has said that the gunman is a citizen of his country. He also called the shooter an “extremist, right-wing, violent terrorist”
Video footage which is being widely circulated on social media seems to be taken by the gunman himself and posted online live as the attack unfolded. New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush said “as far as we know” multiple fatalities occurred at two mosques. One person has been taken into custody but the police are not sure if others were involved. The police has even asked people to stay away from mosques.
