Amid the recent upsurge in the Covid-19 cases in the union territory, the Chandigarh administration on Tuesday has decided to impose a night curfew from April 7.
Night curfew will start from 10 pm to 5 am and in this period no non-essential activity is permitted to function.
The administration has also decided to ban social gatherings during the curfew hours, and all restaurants will have to shut down by 10 pm.
The administration, however, will review the decision when the situation would improve, as per the official press release.

It further mentioned that weekend curfews and closing of apni mandis along with certain other crowded places will have to considered later if the public won't follow COVID preventive guidelines.
According to the Union Health Ministry's Covid report, Chandigarh has shown the highest positivity rate in the country i.e. 11.2%. As of Tuesday evening, the UT had 3,602 active cases.
