As cases of covid19 continue to spike in Punjab, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday announced extension of night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am in nine cities of Punjab which includes Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Mohali, Ropar, Kapurthala, Nawanshahr, Phagwara and Fatehgarh Sahib along with a slew of other measures, to contain the further spread of the second wave of Covid19.
The night-time curfew will now be applicable in these cities with effect from today, with exemption for industries and other emergency services, said the Chief Minister.
He said 2,039 fresh Covid cases and 35 deaths had been reported till Wednesday evening. At least 283 people were on oxygen support.
The high-level press conference of CM Capt Amarinder Singh is still going on at a private hotel in Chandigarh; he will soon take up media questions and will present the four years report card of his government.
Capt Amarinder talking about RTA system, said that “RTA system should not end. It's there for more than 100 years."
Showing his firm commitment towards not implementing the controversial farm laws, the CM said, "Punjab is very clear. We will not let these laws implemented here."
He further said “How many will have to sacrifice their lives for these laws? Already over 100 people from Punjab have died during the protest."
