Nio (NYSE: NIO) is preparing to launch its second-generation Nio Phone this Saturday with NOMI GPT, a sophisticated virtual voice assistant that leverages cutting-edge AI technology. The vice president of hardware at Nio Bai Jian made the announcement today on Weibo.

It is anticipated that users of the NOMI GPT will have access to a wide range of innovative AI-driven experiences. While refusing to provide further details, Bai assured that all pertinent information would be made available to the public at the launch event on July 27.
This follows the release of the original Nio Phone, which retailed for RMB 6499 ($890) on September 21, 2023.

On July 27, the maker of electric vehicles (EVs) will hold its Nio IN 2024 event, at which it will formally unveil SkyOS, its vehicle operating system, in addition to introducing the second-generation Nio Phone.
Nio first unveiled NOMI in 2017 alongside its debut production vehicle, the ES8, with NOMI standing for "Know Me."

Nio formally unveiled the NOMI GPT, which is intended for cars running the NT 2.0 platform, on April 12. The Generative Pre-trained Transformer, or GPT, is a model that uses probability distributions to predict and generate text, allowing for more complex AI interactions.

ChatGPT's global ascent has prompted numerous Chinese enterprises to investigate AI research. Nio claims that big language models raise the general and emotional intelligence scores of NOMI. The new Nio Phones integration of NOMI GPT, according to Bai, is evidence of the company's commitment to AI innovation.

Bai elaborated on Nio's strategic considerations for entering the smartphone market. His comments made it clear that this was a well-thought-out choice rather than a response to other phone manufacturers getting into the auto industry. According to Bai, there is a growing trend toward smart cars and smartphones becoming more integrated.
Nio will be able to guarantee flawless data synchronization, interconnectivity, account information, and cross-device cooperation by creating its own personal phone. Products from different brands cannot be used at this level of integration.

Bai highlighted that the Nio Phone is designed as a high-end device and serves as a flagship product even for consumers who do not own Nio vehicles.

With the exchange rate set at $1 = RMB 7.2773, the upcoming launch of the second-generation Nio Phone and SkyOS is poised to mark a significant milestone in Nio's technological advancements.
