On Thursday, the Ministry of Education has announced the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking 2021, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has bagged the first rank among universities of the country in the “Overall” and “Engineering” category. IIT Madras has top-ranked for the third consecutive time.
IISc Bengaluru has secured the second position in the “overall” category and maintained its status as one of the best engineering universities in India. The third spot has been taken by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (Mumbai).
IIT Bombay is followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur, which have secured fourth and fifth ranking respectively.

The sixth, seventh and eighth position is secured by IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Guwahati respectively.
Jawaharlal Nehru University and Banaras Hindu University have secured ninth and tenth ranks.
In Medical colleges, the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi has secured the first rank and second and third rank is secured by PGIMER Chandigarh and Christian Medical College, Vellore.
In Pharmacy institutes, Jamia Hamdard was declared the top institution and Panjab University, Chandigarh has secured the second position.
In management institutes, IIM Ahmedabad has secured first rank and IIM Bengaluru, IIM Calcutta has secured second and third rank respectively.
In Law, National Law School of India University, Bengaluru has secured first rank and National Law University, New Delhi and NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad has secured second and third rank respectively.

NIRF Ranking 2021, has been announced by Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday (September 9, 2021).
NIRF Ranking is broadly classified into 11 parameters, these are: Overall, University, Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, College, Medical, Law, Architecture, Dental, and Research.
For the first time, NIRF Rankings were announced in the year 2016 and the number of categories has been increased from four to eleven.
