Mesmerizing and beautiful Bhutan ended provision of free entry for the Indian passport holders to Bhutan. From many years Bhutan has been the epicentre of attraction for the Indian tourists. 

The country recently announced that it will impose a daily fee of Rs 1,200 per person from July 2020. This will also imply on countries like Maldives and Bangladesh. For children, the fee will Rs 600 per day. The Bhutanese government recently introduced a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) to help regulate the heavy tourist traffic in the country.

However, the SDF for Indian passport is still less as compared to other countries. Other countries pay the SDF of  USD 65 (Rs 4,631) along with a compulsory flat cover charge of USD 250 (Rs 17,811) per day. The decision to introduce the fee was passed by the country's National Assembly as the Tourism Levy and Exemption Bill of Bhutan, 2020.
