A 29 year old Greater Noida man abducted a traffic constable during a checking drive in Surajpur on Sunday. The man was arrested a day after the incident took place.
The accused has been identified as Sachin Rawal, a resident of Ghodi Bacheda area in Greater Noida.
On Sunday, Virendra Singh, a traffic officer said he had received information that the man was driving a stolen vehicle.
"Around 9.45 a.m., I stopped the suspect's Maruti Swift Dzire near Surajpur and asked to see the vehicle's registration paper. The suspect invited me to sit inside the car and
offered to show me the vehicle's documents on his phone," the 38 year old cop claimed.
"As soon as I got into the car, the suspect locked the doors and drove away for around 8 kilometres. I was surprised because, despite numerous requests he did not slow down the vehicle,"
the officer stated.
Singh dialled 112 to inform the authorities. A police team began following the suspect's vehicle. The suspect then abandoned the constable at the Ajaibpur police checkpoint before fleeing
with the car, according to the police.

Sohanveer Singh, a sub-inspector at Surajpur police station, stated that on Monday evening, officers conducted a search and arrested the suspect in Ghodi Bacheda village.
"We've also seized the vehicle." Initial investigations revealed that the man stole the car two years ago from a showroom in Gurugram under the pretext of a test drive,"
he said.
The suspect has been booked under sections 364 (kidnapping), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from doing his duties), and 368 (wrongfully concealing or keeping a kidnapped or abducted person in captivity) of the Indian Penal Code. The sub-inspector stated, "The suspect will be produced in court on Tuesday."
