The countdown for the much-awaited Amritsar-Delhi Vande Bharat Express has begun. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate multiple Vande Bharat Express trains including one running between Amritsar and Delhi on December 30, 2023. It will be the first Vande Bharat Express for the state of Punjab, hence, the people of the state are wondering what are the stations where the train will halt. Notably, there were demands that the Amritsar-Delhi Vande Bharat Express must stop at Jalandhar Railway Station as it is one of the major business hubs of the state with a huge population. A few days back it was reported that Jalandhar had been included in the Amritsar-Delhi Vande Bharat Express stoppages, however, it is not so. Jalandhar Railway Station has not been included in the list of Amritsar-Delhi Vande Bharat Express stoppages.

As per a senior official in the Railway Department, Amritsar-Delhi Vande Bharat Express will not be halting at Jalandhar City. On the condition of anonymity, the senior official informed True Scoop News that Punjab's first Vande Bharat Express will halt at Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station, not Jalandhar City. It is pertinent to mention here that the DRM (Division Railway Manager) office had sent a proposal to include Jalandhar City in the route to the Railway Ministry. However, it seems like the Union Railway Ministry has put the stamp on Jalandhar Cantt rather than Jalandhar City.
