In another gangster encounter, there was an intense shootout between the police and car-driving gangsters at Jandiala Guru in the Amritsar district of Punjab. One of the gangsters, identified as Amritpal Amri and was involved in 3 murder cases, was shot and killed by the police on the spot. He was reportedly 23-years old.
Amritsar SSP Satinder Singh confirms that Amritpal Amri was killed in the encouter. He informs that Amri was arrested yesterday. He was arrested over possession of nearly 2 Kg Heroine and was being transported for its recovery. He had also concealed a pistol at the spot which he started firing injuring a police officer. He was escaping while handcuffed prompting the police to open fire, killing him.
This is the eighth police-gangster encounter in Punjab in this month. Recently, two gangsters were injured after a police encounter in Mohali. Sukhdev Singh alias Vicky was killed in an encounter in Ludhiana last week.
One police officer was injured in the encounter. The slain gangster, Amritpal Amri was 23 years old and was involved in 3 cases involving 4 murders.
