Innocent individuals are trapped in online frauds all the time. The financial institutions are doing their bit to make us aware of the correct procedure to perform any financial operation.
How the frauds are enabled?
However, the technicality and the human nature to take the path of least resistance, when is coupled with scammers who know how to manipulate people open up a gateway for intelligent and unscrupulous individuals and groups to steal money from people like you and I.
Most common fraud
Commonly known as phishing, fraudsters pose as legitimate institutions and request for typically confidential information like credit or debit card details, OTP (One Time Password), etc.
Are you or your loved one a victim?
Call helpline number 155260 immediately upon learning of the fraud, which is an initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police.
The team will contact the bank concerned and this should the transaction on hold.

As a testimony to the success of the Cyber Crime Cell, more than Rs 3 lakh have been recovered from victims.

Details you need to register complaint
When you call this number, you will be asked for:
· Mobile Number of the complainant
· Name of Bank/Wallet/Merchant from which amount has been debited
· Account No./Wallet Id/Merchant Id/UPI Id from which amount has been debited
· Transaction Id
· Transaction date
· Debit card/Credit card number in case of fraud made by using credentials of Debit card/Credit card
· Screen shot of transaction or any other image related to fraud, if available
The same will be registered, and also the financial institution concerned will be contacted for the purpose of stopping payment, and following up on the process.
Is your bank, wallet, UPI app, etc registered?
About 55 financial institutions have been registered with the platform ‘Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting System’.
So, there is a good chance that any respectable bank or app will be registered.
In 24 hours you need to complete the application
When you begin the process, you will be assigned a system generated login id or acknowledgement number.

Now, the onus is on the victim to complete his application with 24 hours of receiving the same.

Citizen Financial Cyber Frauds Reporting and Management System (For Delhi Only)
Steps for reporting of financial cyber frauds:
1. Any victim of financial cyber fraud can dial helpline number 155260 or report the incident on National Cybercrime Reporting Portal ( www.cybercrime.gov.in ).
2. A Bank or financial intermediary or payment wallet can also report financial cyber fraud through above-mentioned modes.
3. The complainant must provide the following information in case incident is reported on helpline number:
a. Mobile Number of the complainant
b. Name of Bank/Wallet/Merchant from which amount has been debited
c. Account No./Wallet Id/Merchant Id/UPI Id from which amount has been debited
d. Transaction Id
e. Transaction date
f. Debit card/Credit card number in case of fraud made by using credentials of Debit card/Credit card
g. Screen shot of transaction or any other image related to fraud, if available
h. After reporting of complaint/incident, the complainant will get a system generated
Log-in Id/acknowledgement number through SMS/Mail. Using the above Log-in Id/acknowledgement number, the complainant must complete registration of complaint on National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (www.cybercrime.gov.in) within 24 hours. This is mandatory.
4. On receipt of complaint, the designated Police Officer will quickly examine the matter and after verification report to concerned Bank/financial intermediary or payment wallet, etc., for blocking the money involved in the financial cyber fraud.
5. Thereafter, due action as per law will be taken in each case by Police/Bank/Payment wallet/Financial Intermediary.
6. Use of this facility will help a victim of financial cyber fraud in retrieving the money and help Police in identifying the cyber criminal(s) and take legal action as per law.
