The Kerela Police is all set to launch digital de-addiction centers for rescuing children addicted to online games and porn websites. The project is set to be implemented in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Kozhikode during the first phase.
The State government has approved the scheme submitted by the police in this regard. The government has allocated Rs. 1.30 crore for starting this project. The counseling of the students will be available in both online & offline modes.
Those who need more support will be given detailed counseling in offline mode in the district centers. The other will be given online counseling. The Internet has become an integral part of Youth’s life. During the Covid period, the study shifted to online mode. The students spent most of their time on mobile phones. But not for study, some use it for online gaming and other purposes also.

The police is going to implement this scheme with the support of the Departments of Education, Health, and Woman and Child. Psychiatrists will be posted in each district center for the counseling.
