Executive Director of MCure Pharmaceuticals & one of the investors sitting in the panel of Shark Tank India Season 3, Namita Thapar recently shared her 'honest take' on Narayan Murthy's 70-hours-a-week work advice. During one of the Shark Tank India Season 3 episodes, Namita Thapar was asked about her reaction to Narayan Murthy's suggestion that youths should work 70 to 80 hours a week without any conditions to improve India's economy and businesses.  Murthy's suggestion sparked a massive debate in not only working sectors but also among the youths of India. During the 'AskTheShark' session, Namita was questioned about Murthy's suggestion to which she stated that it should not be followed. Below is what Namita Thapar said on Naryan Murthy's 70-hours-a-week work advice- 

 

"'Only one sector will benefit if people work 70 to 80 hours a week and that is Pharma companies. Because your mental and physical health will go on a toss. My opinion is everyone should work hard but I don't think in the age of productivity technology working 70-80 hours a week is needed," said Namita Thapar.

What did Narayan Muthy say?

 

Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy in one of his interviews said, "India's work productivity is one of the lowest in the world. Unless we improve our work productivity, we will not be able to compete with those countries that have made tremendous progress. So, therefore, my request is that our youngsters must say 'this is my country. I'd like to work 70 hours a week."
