The Election Commission of India has given instructions to transfer Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vishesh Sarangal based on a complaint. In the letter issued in this regard reportedly by the Election Commission of India, it has been said that he should be removed from his current posting and transferred to some other place, which is not his home district i.e. Jalandhar constituency. The Election Commission has sought a panel of 3 officers to appoint the new Deputy Commissioner of Jalandhar.
Apart from Jalandhar DC, the ECI has given instructions to remove Ropar Range ADGP Jaskaran Singh and Border Range DIG Narinder Bhargava. These two officers have also been asked to be posted outside the existing districts and to ensure that the newly posted districts do not fall under the existing posting district or Lok Sabha seat. The above two officers are retiring from service in April and June 2024 respectively. For the deployment of new officers at both places, the Commission has asked the panel to 3 names each.
Notably, ever since the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 schedule was announced, it has been seen that the Election Commission of India (ECI) transferring IAS and IPS officers in many states. CEC Rajv Kumar during the press conference said that officers posted in states for more than 2 or 3 years will be changed.
