Over 15 lakh vaccinated in India against Covid-19, numbers start picking up

India has officially started vaccinating people from January 16 and first in line are the healthcare and frontline workers. After a slow start, the country's vaccination drive is picking up pace, according to a report published in NDTV website.

Amid the controversy triggered regarding the pendency of phase 3 trial results of Covaxin, people were skeptical of taking the shot but it is to be noted here that The Lancet medical journal has published a report in which it has been said that the Covaxin is safe and it triggers immune response as per earlier data efficacy results.

15.37 lakh people have been vaccinated in 27,776 sessions since January 16, according to the data published on NDTV.

According to ministry of health, 1.47 lakh people were vaccinated on Saturday, Jan 23. 1,248 adverse reactions were reported and some people have been admitted in the hospitals.

Six health workers have died who were vaccinated against Covid-19 but the Union Health Ministry said these deaths are not linked to the vaccines.

As on day one, 1.9 lakh healthcare workers were vaccinated but on day seven the numbers have risen to 3.5 lakh health care workers. Changes have been made in the Co-win app where the healthcare workers who are not slotted for a certain date can be vaccinated on another date.
